The Age of Fishes Museum in Canowindra features fossils from a local Devonian (360 – 370 Mya) billabong. The fossil site was discovered in 1955 and it included previously unknown species of fish. More than 4000 fossils have been excavated from the site.
Sir David Attenborough visited the museum in 2013 and declared the fossils to be world class.
The dig site is on a local privately owned farm and is not currently accessible for the public.
