STEM with Style
Gold Coast Innovation Hub
The Gold Coast Innovation Hub will be running two 3 hour micro workshops for young women to learn how to infuse technology in their favourite clothing. Utilising 3D printing and electronics, participants will learn how to add a modern twist to timeless crafts, mixing millinery with microchips and applique with accelerometers to create fun, interactive garments whilst developing key STEM skills.
STEM with Style micro workshops include an important education piece around sustainability in fashion, which drives enquiry based learning.
Travelling Bee Roadshow
Victoria Point State High School
Visiting feeder primary schools to educate students about the importance of native bees in the ecosystem. Use of our beehives to show students real-life bees. Use Arduino technology to capture bee activity to share.
STEM Classes in the Great Outdoors
Outdoors Queensland Ltd
The project will showcase the benefits of teaching STEM subjects outdoors to encourage students and teachers to love learning STEM and because children love learning in the great outdoors. Learning outdoors is more fun, productive and rewarding for everyone. Nature Play QLD will launch its new Outdoor Learning Program and STEM Lesson Plans during Science Week.
Switch on to Science
Redland Museum
This public event will inform, excite, and inspire school students and other people by demonstrating and explaining the science, technology, and engineering underlying the many working displays of vintage equipment in our museum. Vintage equipment is ideal to demonstrate science because it is simple and easier to understand.
Indigenous Science Experience at Logan
Macquarie University
The Indigenous Science Experience at Logan will provide free, immersive Indigenous STEM activities for primary school students from low socio-economic status schools. This event will celebrate the rich cultural and STEM knowledge held by Indigenous Australians and highlight its value to students.
Science After Dark: Night at the Library
Tablelands Regional Council
Science After Dark will offer the Tablelands community a night of interactive activities and information sessions delivered at the Atherton Library in partnership with Tablelands Regional Council and local science community stakeholders. Activities will include robotics, coding and other hands-on activities, as well as presentations from local science leaders.
Professor Tech – Introduction to Awesome (Extended Reality)
The CREATE Lab
Come and join Professor Michael Cowling (Professor Tech) and the CREATE Lab crew to experience awesome new worlds through XR – virtual, augmented and mixed realities. You can interact with holograms or even pet a virtual dinosaur, but be careful he doesn’t make you walk the virtual plank! Seriously cool.
The Queensland BioQuest

A Queensland-wide online BioQuest and three in-person events led by qualified QuestaGame guides in regional botanic gardens will raise awareness amongst the community to their local biodiversity while also helping map it.
Into the Depths of the Fascinating World of Whales, Sharks and Jellyfish
Shark Ecology Australia, Griffith University
Sharks, jellyfish, and whales are iconic marine animals though only a few species are commonly known. We intend to undertake an interactive and engaging event bringing the experience of researchers to lure and encourage both young and adult minds to experience the magic and charisma of these animals.
