Queensland National Science Week committee is delighted to announce the recipients of the 2018 National Science Week Queensland community grants.
This year was competitive, with many high-quality grant applications. Recipients receive up to $2500 for the seed event grants.
We encourage everyone who is holding an event to register on the National Science Week website.

Mount Isa Science Exhibition, Mt Isa
Young People Ahead Youth & Community Services Inc.
Youth group in Mt Isa will use a variety of STEM activities to engage the local kids.
Rural Futures: Game Changers and Change Makers, Charters Towers
Blackheath & Thornburgh College
Building on success from 2017, this event will comprise four evening events aimed at local community with science shows and guest speakers.
National Science Week at the Tanks: PechaKucha Evening, Cairns
James Cook University
This community event will bring together guest speakers and scientists with kids and adults for Science in the Tropics.
Forensics – Fingerprinting Mystery, Bundaberg, Childers & Gin Gin
Bundaberg Regional Council Libraries
The Regional Council aims to create Forensic Science kits and run activities out of its libraries in Bundaberg, Childers and Gin Gin.
Gympie Technology Challenge, Gympie
Gympie Central State School
This event will promote coding and scratch programming for local kids through the Gympie Technology Challenge.
Inspiring Champions for Moreton Bay, Moreton Bay / Wynnum
Moreton Bay Environmental Education Centre
A boat cruise from Wynnum into Moreton Bay will engage participants to boost knowledge of the local ecosystems.
Science Fest, Atherton
Tablelands Regional Council
Atherton library will use VR headsets to run a week-long event focusing on digital technology.
#STEM Like a Pat’s Girl, Townsville
St Patrick’s College Townsville
The program is aimed at teenage girls from around Townsville and Far North Queensland.
VR Fun @ the Rockhampton Cultural Festival, Rockhampton
Rockhampton Regional Council
Local library staff will run an activation at the Rocky Cultural Festival. Digital technology and VR headsets will take participants on a journey into science.
