Friday Morning Tech: How does the Internet work?

  • - (AEST)
  • Altona Meadows Library
2 Newham Way, Altona Meadows VIC 3028, Australia

The internet is a fundamental part of our lives... but what actually is it? Is it a series of cables? Something in 'the cloud'?

From communication to commerce, entertainment to education, we rely on the internet every day. This session will take you on a journey through the history of the internet, from its humble beginnings to the critical role it currently plays in society. Learn about the technological concepts and jargon hiding behind our screens. This session will empower you to talk with confidence about all things online and interconnected.

This event is part of the Hobson Bay Libraries' regular Technology program. These classes are for adults wishing to gain more confidence with the devices and technology services they use every day.

For August, in celebration of Science Week, we'll be delving into not just how to USE technology, but how it actually WORKS.

So, join us for a mixture of talk and hands-on activities facilitated by your friendly Technology Librarians. We'll guide you through all those tricky questions you may have as well, and share some great resources to keep you learning beyond the class.
