  • - (AEST)

With the chance to win exciting prizes, Britannica Education is on the lookout for young innovators in Australia and New Zealand who can come up with smart ideas to help protect our oceans for future generations. Submissions for this competition are due at the end of National Science Week 2024!

The Ocean Innovators ANZ Challenge is held by Britannica Education to inspire and celebrate young innovators from across Australia. Students will have the opportunity to showcase their science knowledge and innovative ideas around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) for ocean health, with the chance to win some exciting prizes! As part of the Challenge, students will:

  • Complete a Lesson on Expedition: Learn
In teams of 2-4, students will complete an Expedition: Learn! lesson around human impact on the environment, that sets the scene.
  • Fill out a Digital Research Journal
Teams then fill out the related questions in their digital Research Journal, to assess their understanding.
  • Design a Digital Solutions Poster
Finally, teams create a digital poster that showcases their innovative solution to the UN SDG number 14, “Life Below Water”.

Each winning team will receive a Zero-X Action Cam for the classroom and a turtle will be adopted on the group’s behalf from WWF Australia (each winning team will receive a WWF adoption pack!).
