Biosphere Brainiacs is a set of competitive knowledge quizzes for different age groups to enter.

Participants will need to answer 20 questions. Relating to their knowledge about the Fitzgerald Biosphere and biospheres in general.

Participants will then write a short story about their highlight of the Biosphere. This could be a particular plant, animal, geological feature, or anything that is special to the participant. This allows the opportunity for participants to think about the connections they have with the biosphere. and how it makes them feel.

Participants will be directed to a specific set of quiz questions based on their age. There will be three different age categories – children, youth and adult.

It will be free and open for anyone to enter throughout the month of August 2024.

We will have targeted local promotion of the competition. Participants can scan the QR code from locally displayed posters, newspaper or social media advertising. The QR code will take them to the online quiz with questions about the Fitzgerald Biosphere. The quiz can also be completed manually on paper. Please return paper entries to Hopetoun Community Resource Centre before the closing deadline.

Entries will be judged based on accuracy of questions answered. As well as creativity of stories shared. Judges will be a panel of experts from the Fitzgerald Biosphere Community Collective. They will select the best from each age category with some great local prizes for the winners.

A selection of the best stories shared in the competition will be published in the Community Spirit Newspaper. We will also publish on social media which will further the impact of the project and create more lasting connections.
