Dirt Fest Murraylands

  • - (AEST)
  • Murray Bridge Community Centre
18 Beatty Terrace, Murray Bridge SA 5253, Australia

Join us for an engaging exploration of soil microbiology and its crucial role in ecosystem health.

Discover the broader significance of soil health for the wider environment and our native species. Engage in hands-on activities centred on the significance of soil and our native threatened species. Engage in discussions, ask questions, and connect with fellow soil enthusiasts to become advocates for soil conservation in our communities.

The event will include the official start of the 'Soil Your Undies' citizen science project. Participants will receive two pairs of cotton underwear to bury in their yards or local green spaces. Over 8 weeks, the buried undies will decompose at varying rates depending on the health of the soil microbiome. Participants will contribute valuable data to help better understand soil health and microbiology in different environments.

All ages and backgrounds are welcome. It's fun for the whole family! No prior knowledge is required.

Let's dig in and uncover the mysteries beneath our feet!
