Seeing Stars SKA Art Prize is an initiative to celebrate art and astronomy inspired by the world’s largest telescope – the Square Kilometre Array (SKA).
The SKA will be co-hosted by Australia and South Africa, with this national competition designed to raise awareness of Australia’s involvement in the SKA project.
This competition invites budding and emerging artists to create artwork celebrating one of these five fundamental mysteries of the universe that the SKA may give us answers to:
- the birth of stars and galaxies;
- the mysteries of dark energy;
- alien life;
- the genius of Einstein; and
- giant magnetic fields of space.
Seeing Stars is open to all Australians and great prizes are available in three categories – Open, 12 years and under, and People’s Choice. Winning entries will feature in a public exhibition to be held in Melbourne later this year.
Entries close 11:59 PM AEST, Friday 5 July 2013.
