Do you like balloons? Do you like stories? Then you will love The Twisty Science Show.
In the show, you'll hear the story of how our DNA makes each of us unique, told using fun and colourful balloon creations. It is based on the book, “What Makes You Unique” by Dr Chloe Lim, a scientist and professional balloon artist. Chloe is also a finalist on Channel 7's balloon competition show Blow Up.
The show starts with an interactive reading of “What Makes You Unique,” full of engaging questions and live balloon twisting to help introduce you to the idea of genetics, and learn more about how your body works. Then, you'll get to see DNA with your very own eyes, with a live demonstration of DNA extraction from strawberries. The event will be around 45 minutes in duration.
This event is recommended for pre-schoolers, primary school children, and their parents/carers. Younger children are welcome. Adult supervision is required at all times.
Please register for every person attending to ensure there is enough seating for everyone.
This National Science Week project is supported by the ACT Government and is in partnership with Libraries ACT.
