Welcome to the Wilmington Science Day!
The Year 5/6 students will demonstrate a number of different science experiments that the younger students can rotate through in groups. We are a small school of only 50 students. In Term 3 our science focus in each class is Chemistry, which will be the focus of the event.
It will be a fun and hands-on Science Fair, that can demonstrate how science is related to aspects of everyday life they didn’t even realise.
The Year 5/6 class have taken ownership and leadership of the chosen experiments. After brainstorming, the class voted on four experiments; volcanos, mini bottle rockets, slime and bath bombs. The class will spend two weeks practicing and refining their recipes and methods. They will also research the science behind their experiments, ready to explain to the younger students what is happening when materials are mixed together and why.
