Cedars Christian College will be transformed into a week-long incubator of scientific exploration for students from Year 7 to Year 12.

Activities –

1. The High School science workshop will give yr 7 to 10 students an opportunity to explore the national theme - Species Survival - More than just sustainability. The task involves analysing simulated Whale snot and determining whether the 3 whales given are in the ‘healthy’ ranges.

2. The Cedars Science Fair will focus on inspiration and innovation, showcasing individual research projects covering all scientific disciplines while encouraging the development of communication skills. External judges will evaluate the students’ efforts and crown the most creative projects.

3. To promote a sense of wonder Open lab sessions will invite students to experience science in surprising ways by interacting with 20 self-paced ‘species diversity-inspired’ activities in 2 collaborative spaces, with experts on hand to flame curiosities and stimulate intellectual discussion.

Cedars Science Week is designed to be an immersive experience for students through the following: -

1.     Individual research projects allow students to focus on a specific area of interest that they are passionate about. Seeking answers to queries and quirks of the natural world.

2.     Open Labs compel participants to ask higher order questions and promote open dialogue with experts who freely share their passion and love for science, inspiring those in ear-shot to choose science electives in senior years of their schooling

3.     The Whale Snot workshop will be used as a spring board to promote the current and emerging careers in Conservation research and Genetics.
