Get ready for quantum science in 2025

The UN has declared 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.

Lighting our homes, the Internet, fighting disease, and scanning our groceries: we use quantum science every day. It underpins discoveries from astronomy to photosynthesis. And Schrödinger’s cat has appeared (or not) across popular culture.

The Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) invites cultural, political, business and industry organisations to consider how you might use Quantum Year as you plan your National Science Week activities for 2025.

Australia’s physicists want to talk with you about it.

The AIP is holding informal briefings:

Quantum Year will:

Educate – Reveal and explain the wonders of quantum science and its impacts on our lives today and into the future.

Inspire – Ignite the nation’s curiosity about the beauty and promise of the quantum world and inspire people of all backgrounds to pursue careers in science and technology.

Celebrate – Celebrate worldwide achievements in quantum science and technology, spotlighting Australia’s pioneering leadership in this endeavour.

Find out how your organisation can be involved, and help us create conversations across Australia about the impact of quantum science and technology, past, present, and future, on every aspect of society including science, culture, politics, industry, philosophy, even sport.

Quantum Year in Australia is being organised by the Australian Institute of Physics, supported by Science in Public.
