2 Smith Street (Darebin Creek Management Committee, Darebin Parklands (bottom of Separation St), Alphington VIC 3078, Australia

This is a Community of Practice gathering for educators in early years, primary, secondary and tertiary settings, especially science educators in the City of Darebin on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. Work together to explore local species' relationships to Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung seasons and other scientific matters! We’ll connect Science Week 2024’s theme Species Survival - More than just sustainability with the 2024 NAIDOC Week theme Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud and National Reconciliation Week 2024 theme Now More Than Ever; themes for all Australians. We’ll reflect on and share stories for related science teaching in the required Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ perspectives curriculum; especially as non-Indigenous educators recognising mixed methods of scientific practice such as technique, observation and interpretation. We'll share ways of knowing stony Country, freshwater Country, terrestrial Country, and sky Country in local Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country through the lens of ethnobotany, paleoecology, geology, botany, aquatic science and freshwater and terrestrial ecology.
