Greenmount SS is a small but mighty school on the Darling Downs in Queensland. Its Science-riffic teachers run a Science Festival each year focusing around the National Science Week theme. This year we are set to mix things up with the Biodiversity theme. We will be running workshops with wildlife carers (and yes... there will be wildlife visiting), the local Department of Primary Industries unit will be involved in throwing the 'feral pest management' strategies into the mix and we have been working with the Queensland Museum to bring borrow boxes themed around biodiversity into our classroom. We will host a 'Science and Engineering Challenge' with students working in multi aged groups to construct a super sturdy straw bridge and then we have our classroom incursion.
In partnership with IntegratedSTEM, we will immerse our primary school students in the fields of electronics, engineering, and agricultural sciences. IntegratedSTEM is an education provider who specialise in bringing industry-based technology to students to spark their interest in STEM futures through hands-on experiences in the areas of robotics, engineering, electronics and AgTech.
