MYC Science Week Activities

  • - (AEST)
  • Mill Park Secondary College
9-25 Moorhead Drive, Mill Park VIC 3082, Australia

To celebrate National Science Week we will be running activities each day at lunchtime (except Thursday).
At Senior Campus all of the activities will be in 3D and at Middle Years they will be in different rooms.

The schools theme this year is Species Survival - More than just sustainability. The theme aims to highlight the importance of science and innovation in ensuring the survival and thriving of different species in an ever-changing world.

The orrery was sought after for y7 “Our place in space”, to aid students with a visual presentation of the three bodies.

The connection with ASTA is the collision between the primordial Earth with Theia which allowed an increase Earth’s iron core and thus set up our protective magnetic shield against the Sun’s solar wind which was the most significant event to allowed life to begin.

When Mars/moon become colonised, people will not live on the surface, but underground. This is why Mars cannot have life start there, the Sun’s radiation will render organisms lifeless.
