The ACT National Science Week Committee are seeking applications for 2024 grants! These grants are for creative and engaging Science Week events across the ACT. Consider livestreams, alternate reality games, science demonstrations and everything in between – the sky’s the limit!
Grants of up to $3000 will be available. Several special grants (up to $6000) will be available for events that target underrepresented audiences: disadvantaged youth, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, the LGBTIQA+ community, people with disability, culturally and linguistically diverse, or older adults (65+).
Eligibility
Your event needs to be open to the general public and aimed at ACT residents during National Science Week (10-18 August). If your event is the week before or after these dates, you can still apply and your event may be considered!
Please note: schools are NOT eligible for ACT grants unless the event is open and advertised to the wider public.
ACT grant applications will be assessed against the following selection criteria:
- Level of explanation: the event is thoroughly described and well explained
- Originality: the event is innovative and shows creativity in content/format, ideally with some measure of interactivity
- Feasibility: the event is achievable with the resources available
- Community impact: there is a clear indication of how the event provides community impact
- Value for money: the value for money of the event is clear and the budget is well justified
- Diversity: the event showcases diversity in presenters
- Event targets identified audience: a clear and effective plan to target the specified audience has been outlined
Preference will be given to events that demonstrate cross-disciplinary content.
If your application is successful, you will receive support from the ACT National Science Week committee with event planning, merchandise, and evaluation as needed.
