Mt Stromlo Observatory Visitor Centre has a range of historic artefacts and interactive exhibits. There is also a heliostat projecting a large image of the Sun onto a table for observing sunspots and solar flares. You can also find out about the history of the Observatory and its tragic destruction in the January 2003 bushfire.

There are regular public astronomy nights held in conjunction with the Canberra Astronomical Society.

The working laboratories on site are not open to the public but the historic Director’s Residence is open daily. There is a picnic ground on site.

Entry to the Visitor Centre is free. Open everyday except 24-26 December and 1 January.
