The award-winning Y Water Discovery Centre features interactive interpretive displays to inform visitors about the importance of water and wetland ecology.
The interpretive centre is a dynamic learning space that has an action-orientated focus. It provides age-appropriate interactive spaces to learn about the value of water and biodiversity in our environment and tells the story of the Yea Wetlands and the life forms it supports. The twelve interpretive elements within the Centre are designed to spark interest and challenge visitors’ understanding about water resources. Also on display is an intriguing 3D audio-visual presentation which explains the story of the Yea Wetlands.
The 32 hectare Yea wetlands precinct offers a hands on learning opportunity and genuine nature based experience. The area boasts outstanding natural beauty and is home to many species of native flora and fauna including platypus, the rakali and the damsel fly.
Guided tours and school group programs offer the chance to learn and discover more about this unique environment.
