Delve into the fascinating world of reptiles and amphibians!

‘A Masterclass in Herpetology - Surviving and Thriving’ is a workshop designed to share a range of expert perspectives with young people who aspire towards a career or volunteer role in zoology, herpetology, animal rescue or similar fields.

With a morning session for special needs participants, and an afternoon session for the general public, you can experience presentations by expert speakers, hands-on and engaging activities with local Animal Rescue organisations, and practical components with live animals.

Along with Discovery Centre zoologists and ecologists, the day will include several guest presenters, including the teams from Animal Ark, Roaming Reptiles and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA).

Covering topics such as classification, ecology, threats, field survey and monitoring, wildlife first aid, safe handling practices, and diet and food preparation, this masterclass will empower participants to care for reptiles, amphibians, and their environment in a professional and ethical manner. This newly-gained knowledge will hopefully provide an insight into a career or volunteering role in animal rescue, animal husbandry, or similar fields.
