Facilities of the Heavy Ion Accelerators (HIA) for high-energy ion beam research are unique in Australia and rare in the world. The Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF) runs 24/7. Supporting a wide range of scientific research and applications. Including nuclear physics, astrophysics, medical physics, resource extraction, environmental science and space radiation.

In a day jam-packed with inquiry and all-inclusive fun, this is a chance to get to know the facility and its users. Featured activities include:

• Tours of the facility.
• Scientific demonstrations.
• Colouring-in station for kids.

 We offer three demonstration options:

• Short 30-min session at 10am and 2.30 pm. You will see two demonstrations.
• Longer 45-min session at 10am and 2.15 pm. You will see three demonstrations.
• Standard 1-hour session will run every 15 minutes from 10 am until 2 pm. 4 demonstrations are involved.

 We also offer Tours which will run for 45-50 minutes every half an hour.

Please book your tickets to guarantee a place. Limited number of walk-ins can be accommodated in case of ticket-holders no-show.
