The Australian Society of Ophthalmologists (ASO) will host the first ASO Eye Surgery Showcase at Australian Parliament House Canberra. As part of National Science Week, the event provides the perfect opportunity to showcase medical technologies and innovative treatments in eye disease.
The event will commence at 7:30 am with a networking breakfast served for attendees and will showcase breakthrough eye surgery technology in Australia.
Education will be delivered on the prevalence, prevention and treatment of specific diseases within ophthalmology, including: glaucoma, cataract, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Members of Parliament, senators, ophthalmologists, patient advocates, industry and media will be invited to participate in a lecture on eye health disease affecting Australian patients. This will include additional, contemporary and specific focus on the treatment within remote Indigenous communities, such as preventative measures and emerging treatments, with the potential to hear from first-hand patient experience.
Attendees will also be invited to participate in an interactive display of technologies from industry partners, guided by ophthalmologists who will provide demonstrations, and where possible and practical, live interventions using the leading technology.
