We're encouraging locals to explore their curiosity!
Local people are encouraged to think about science in our everyday as part of upcoming National Science Week events between Monday 19th to Wednesday 21st August 2024, supported by Bass Coast Community Foundation.
A science fair held at Wonthaggi Town Hall will offer an opportunity for local primary, secondary, tertiary and adult learning students, and citizen scientists. Share a display or demonstration of your interpretation of the theme "Sustainable science in the everyday".
Foundation Executive Officer Deb Watson said the event aims to encourage local people to consider the science behind what we use and do in our everyday lives. It will provide a way to encourage people to link what is all around us to science and scientific research.
“As well as local students, we’re encouraging people of all ages to contribute a display. Prizes include Best Display, Best Innovation and People’s Choice – with a judging ceremony and afternoon tea held on Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the event,” she said.
All displays will be in-situ for the whole event between Wednesday and Friday, with local people encouraged to come and have a look at the submissions.
