National Science Week activities will introduce preschool children to the world of Australian pollinators in our gardens. With the focus on the role of bees in the garden, children and educators will investigate and observe bees, crawling and flying insects, spiders, and birds in the gardens.
Educators will use learning resources to engage children in discussion about the insects they find in the gardens and why we need them for our plants to survive. Hands-on activities will have children planting flower seeds and seedlings into a garden bed to encourage pollinators to the gardens.
Outdoor activities will have children participate in scavenger hunts, bee and flower identification activities using magnifying
glasses and bird watching.
