622-632 Harris Street, Ultimo NSW 2007, Australia

In April 2024 the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration declared the world is experiencing its 4th Mass Coral Bleaching Event, with the devastating effects felt in our very own backyard along the Australian Great Barrier Reef. This marks the 5th coral bleaching event reported for the Great Barrier Reef in the last 8 years.

Join us for breakfast and be part of a dynamic conversation about restoring the Great Barrier Reef by attending the Future Reefs Team – Opportunities for Impact Breakfast on Tuesday 13 August 2024. Network with academics, industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to collectively explore avenues for preventing the loss of one of the planet's biggest living structures.

The event will present the innovative work being undertaken at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) by the Future Reefs Team. Marine Biologist and Future Reefs Team Leader Dr Emma Camp will be presenting how the innovative work being done by the team can help preserve and rebuild the "healthy reefs" of tomorrow. We will then hear from postdoctoral researcher Dr Christine Roper about how innovative technology and collective community action can lead to the successful restoration of high-value reef sites like the Great Barrier Reef.

At UTS, The Future Reefs Team addresses the vital need of undertaking pioneering science to better preserve and re-build "healthy reefs" of tomorrow. The team demonstrates how partnerships and collective community action can lead to the successful restoration of high value reef sites.
