Get ready to transform our school into a buzzing, fluttering, chirping wonderland. We're building an incredible garden to celebrate and support the amazing biodiversity around us. We will be designing and constructing an incredible outdoor learning space, to help bring our learning to life.
Years 1-2: Insect Hotels Our youngest eco-warriors will dive into the world of beneficial insects, focusing on native bees. They will design cozy insect hotels to attract and support these important pollinators. During National Science Week, they’ll get hands-on, building and setting up their insect homes in our new garden and around the school.
Years 3-4: Butterfly Gardens Budding botanists in Years 3-4 will research native plants that attract beautiful butterflies. They'll design gardens bursting with pollinator-friendly flowers. During Science Week, they’ll plant these in pots and mini greenhouses, creating vibrant spots of colour and life around our outdoor Science area.
Years 5-6: Bird Feeders and Nesting Boxes Our oldest students will soar into the study of native birds, observing those commonly seen around our school. They’ll design and build bird feeders and nesting boxes, tailored to our local species. During Science Week, they’ll construct these bird havens and place them in our new Science Garden and throughout the school grounds.
National Science Week This is where it all comes together. During National Science Week, students will use their research to create their projects, turning our school into a living, breathing ecosystem. It's time to roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty, and make a lasting impact on our environment. Let’s build a garden that buzzes with excitement, flutters with beauty, and chirps with life.
