18 King George Terrace, Parkes ACT 2600, Australia

Enjoy a morning of science-themed craft and play at the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) at Old Parliament House. During National Science Week, children can learn about the ways science helps us take care of the natural world and explore how they can participate in local animal surveys. Held in MoAD’s popular PlayUP exhibition, children can get hands-on at the craft table to make observational binoculars before using them to spot animal friends hiding around the space. This free drop-in event is suitable for young children.

PlayUP hosts free craft activities every day at Old Parliament House. Each activity is inspired by a different United Nations day or a national day of significance. PlayUP’s craft activities are suitable for young children and their adults and are supported by a facilitator.

Based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, PlayUP celebrates the rights of children to express themselves, to play and to learn about the world. This exhibition has hands-on activities to educate, excite and challenge young minds through imagination, discovery, roleplay and fun. Children and adults can engage with craft activities, storytime, a fuzzy felt wall, a kindness café and listening pods. PlayUP is open every day from 9:00am to 4:30pm at Old Parliament House.
