All through National Science Week during recess and lunch breaks the whole school will be involved in science inquiry-based activities themed by the letters of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics). This will complement our science education lessons looking at this year's Science Week schools theme of Species Survival – More Than Just Sustainability in a range of hands-on investigations and activities.
The activities are:
Monday – Science 'Bubble Mania': Students will attempt to make the biggest bubbles with different wands and solutions.
Tuesday – Technology 'Remote Control': Students have the opportunity to try out different vehicles and robots and augmented reality devices.
Wednesday – Engineering 'Towers and Slingshots': Students will use a range of materials to build the highest tower and shoot the furthest slingshot at our giant 'Periodic Table'.
Thursday – Art 'Murals and Mayhem': Students collaborate on an indigenous mural and interactive art installation based on a science theme.
Friday – Mathematics: The school community votes on our 'Make a Model' competition and the winners are presented with a Scitech membership at the Science Week assembly.
