Curious about our gut microbiome? Can you crochet, stitch, knit or knot? Want to be a part of a great art and science project?
There are trillions of microbiota in our intestinal tract, our gut microbiome. For National Science Week, join this day of activity and contribute to the Gut Feelings community art project by creatively crafting gut microbiome, while you also learn about a healthy gut, and explore the mind-gut connection.
Lead by Neural Knitworks artists, you are invited to drop in at any time over the day and join the project at the Cottage in the beautiful grounds of Hazelhurst Art Centre. The artists are on hand to explain the project and take you through how to craft a microbiome, while leading researchers in gut health and microbiome will join throughout the day to explain the science and to take questions.
We will supply all the crafting material but you are welcome to bring your own materials and needles.
Open to all, with registration required. Please let us know any accessibility requirements in the registration form.
This project is supported by Inspiring Australia for 2024 National Science Week.
