Mini MakerX

  • - (AEST)
  • Makers Technology and Innovation Hub, University of Tasmania
2 Bass Hwy, Burnie TAS 7320, Australia

We are thrilled to be hosting a Mini MakerX event at our newly-refurbished Makers Technology and Innovation Hub at the University of Tasmania, Cradle Coast Campus in Burnie!

Join us for a community festival that brings together all the elements that make our region so unique. This National Science Week activity will promote idea-sharing, learning, participation, creativity and hands-on activities.

This exciting family-friendly “Show & Tell” is brought to you by people who love to create, learn, innovate and change. This one-day expo will raise awareness of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activities and will encourage our future workforce to engage in this space. Explore STEM activities ranging from digital technologies, science and sustainability.

A key element of the event will be about species survival, with a focus on the little penguin. Learn all about the little penguin's habitat and ecology.

We hope that participation in this event will:

  • Engage community learners of all ages in diverse STEM experiences relevant to industries, learning opportunities and future jobs on the Cradle Coast.
  • Showcase some of the region's ‘modern making’ and the contributions that university and local enterprises make to STEM-related fields and industry.
  • Showcase University courses relating to science, engineering, aboriginal cultural knowledge and digital technology.
  • Help us to make our National Science Week BIG, BOLD AND EXCITING!

This project received grant funding from the Australian Government.
