Robotics and Movement

  • - (AEST)
  • Mountain District Learning Centre
15 The Avenue, Ferntree Gully VIC 3156, Australia

At Mountain District Learning Centre, we will be running an event for 30 young people. These young people will first learn about how solar energy works, how batteries operate, and the ways that a signal can then convert the energy into movement. The young people will then be required to open their robotics kit and choose from the 29 different options and choose the one which will be best to race their robot on the day. The young people will then build their robot and make sure that it works well and that it is ready to race, the robots will also have to have the solar panel placed correctly so that they can move. They will then race their robots and collect data based on the travel distance and times throughout the race at different spot intervals.

After the race, they are then required to write down all of their data and have it ready to learn about the basics of physics. The young people will need to then answer questions on acceleration, distance, time, and velocity. Displacement graphs will then be required to determine more elements of physics to get them to think about formulas and how they can be used to solve equations.

Food and lunch will be provided and some of the young people will be tasked to prepare the food for others to enjoy throughout the event.
