Stargazing with Dr Martin George

Join Hive’s Principal Astronomer Dr. Martin George to look at the spectacular night sky and learn about the stars and planets!

You are encouraged to bring along your telescope if you have one, however telescopes will be available for use on the evening.

This is an outdoor, night-time event so please rug up and wear appropriate footwear.

If weather conditions do not permit stargazing, a special astronomy talk will be held by Dr. George at Ulverstone Secondary College.

Suitable for all ages.

This event is free, however registrations are essential.

Dr. Martin George MASA is Principal Astronomer at the Ulverstone Planetarium at Hive. Martin is a well-known communicator of astronomy, appearing frequently in the media (especially radio programs and newspapers). He loves to bring the exciting science of astronomy to people of all ages. Martin is a member of several professional organisations, including the Astronomical Society of Australia, the International Astronomical Union, and the International Planetarium Society, in which he is Board Member for Oceania and Chair of International Development.

This event is presented by Hive Tasmania and will be held at Ulverstone Secondary College. Prospective astronomers are to meet at the service entry off Walker Street, with parking on Walker Street.

This event is part of the full National Science Week at Hive program 2024.
