Do you want to learn more about how plants power life on Earth?

ARC Future Crops Training Centre and meriSTEM education are presenting an exciting opportunity. Conduct experiments in plant biology with photosynthesis sensors and other tools at the ANU!

If you're a Year 11 or 12 student in the ACT or surrounding regions undertaking a relevant biology or Earth science course, you're invited to apply for this event! Year 10 students with a keen interest in plant biology are also encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants will undertake a day of activities at the ANU on the 5 August 2024.

We will film this event and use the footage to develop activities for the meriSTEM and ANU webpages during National Science Week.

This event will feature:

  • Microscope observation of different plants
  • Use of photosynthesis sensors
  • Phylogenetic analysis of enzymes involved in photosynthesis from multiple crops
  • Future Crops Centre lab tour
  • Morning tea provided
  • Exciting group photo with a thermal camera

The activity is free for all students. Applications are due by Sunday 28 July at 11:55 pm.

We will notify successful applicants via email by Friday 2 August.
