Species Survival Activity Morning

Capalaba State College will hold an activities Morning. This will include engaging investigative STEM activities for our Prep-2 mainstream and Montessori students; and we will invite our local Kindy. We will involve parent volunteers, as well as community organisations such as Indigiscapes, Tangalooma EcoMarines, and our CSIRO Stem Professionals in Schools volunteer to encourage interest in STEM careers, sustainability and community connectedness. Upper school students, and our Tangalooma Ambassadors and Environmental captains, will run activities focussed around: Animal and plant needs, and features/adaptations for survival; biodiversity; foodwebs and the interconnectedness between producers and consumers; the roles of scientists/citizen science in monitoring and species data collection; and managing and preventing the impact of pollution on species. Mathematics and technology would be applied within data collection and measurement. One activity would use IPADS for contribution to a citizen science project.
