In this month-long project coming together for science week, Year 9 Arts Enrichment Program (AEP) and Athlete Development Program (ADP) science students will undertake a STEAM focused project to foster authentic student voice and agency opportunities.
In teams they will be creating activities and events with an “species survival - more than just sustainability” theme to engage junior students in Science Week Activity sessions. This project will help our ADP sports students access science to improve mental health and fitness, will help our AEP students explore creativity and connect with the community through art and creativity. This project will be delivered during science week to groups of our 300 Year 7 students, and extend to grade 5 students in local feeder schools in the community. To assist and inspire the year 9 students in this project, we will be inviting Lilydale High Alumni and our VCE environmental science class to work with Year 9 students on their project and share their knowledge of sustainability, ecology, being a park ranger, zoology, environment policies and climate change.
