Wilman Kids on Country

Millennium Kids will work with the Wilman people to codesign a two-day Science Week 2024 on country program at Dryandra Woodland and Pomphreys Bridge, 180 km southeast
of Perth.

The workshop series will add value to the Wilman Healthy Country Plan, ensuring young people are integrated into a long-term strategy to connect young people to country and culture. By using a ‘youth voice and engagement approach’, Indigenous young people will help codesign a youth strategy.

In the two-day on Country series, young people will participate in a range of workshops with Elders, scientists and artists in a range of STEM activities. They will explore what could be developed into an annual on country plan with workshops at Pomphrey's Bridge and Dryandra.

The program will include a site tours Barnia Mia Noctural Wildlife Experience , bushtucker workshops, stories from families who lived in the area, macroinvertabrate sampling at the river, important indigenous plants –both scientific names, Noongar names and common names.
