Writing workshop: Crafting convincing science fiction

  • - (AEST)
  • Belconnen Library - Mezzanine Room
12 Chandler Street, Belconnen ACT 2617, Australia

Join experienced science writer Sarah Kellett for a writing workshop with practical tips for weaving real science into fiction. With a focus on Mars exploration and space, you’ll be inspired by local researchers and write your own short stories.

The two-hour workshop will include short talks on space and tips for writing and publishing short stories. There will also be time for creative writing using a range of prompts. We welcome people from all walks of life and with different writing experience, from absolute beginners to published writers looking to increase the accuracy of their science fiction. This workshop is best suited to adults and children aged over 16. All participants will receive a gift bag with writing supplies.

Your facilitator is Sarah Kellett, a Canberra-based science writer with over 100 articles published in magazines, newspapers and online, 2 short stories, and 3 educational books for children.

This National Science Week project is supported by the ACT Government.
