YOU are the X Factor: The Key to Survival combines STEM and MESS subjects to explore the Yellangonga National Park.

The day will adapt the Species Survival resource connecting ‘species survival, sustainability + X Factor ’. Students will learn that they are the X factor in the interconnected web of life. They'll each receive a stamped keepsake ‘X Factor key’ which can be interconnected to form an outline of our island home – Australia. 

The investigations on the day will involve and build upon STEM and Science Inquiry Skills where students explore their local area Yellangonga National Park. Investigations exploring the X include; leaf identification, leaf rubbings, seed identification, seed cycles, ecosystem observations and restoration ideas, animal identification, habitat destruction and restoration projects, native plant and animal adaptations, conservation crisis games and how these are interconnected. The outcome will be the students will become citizen scientists and adopt a wetland/bushland area at Yellagonga National Park.
