Inspiring Australia Queensland’s National Science Week Seed Grants are now open! We are seeking applications from Queensland communities to deliver innovative events and activities in August 2024, preferably in National Science Week from 10 – 18 August 2024. Preference will be given to activities that engage or promote groups that have been historically under-represented in STEM.
The purpose of this funding is to connect community members with science and technology, including those in regional, rural, and remote communities, and to enable community hosts to develop interactive STEM events and activities for the public.
Applicants are encouraged to collaborate with Queensland STEM Hubs as well as other local event providers that have well established audiences e.g. libraries, regional museums and galleries, or community organisations.
Selection Criteria
National Science Week in person, online and hybrid events and activities must meet the following essential criteria:
- Engage the community with a STEM-based activity or project.
- Be held during August 2024, ideally during National Science Week (10 – 18 August).
- Adhere to the eligible expenditure guidelines.
- Not be a school-only event.*
- Be evaluated by collecting feedback from participants and included in a post-event report.
and at least two of the following criteria:
- Inspire people to pursue an interest or aptitude in science.
- Encourage local community participation and ongoing engagement in science.
- Provide diversity and inclusion in programming and audience reach.
- Celebrate Australian scientific achievement past and present.
- Provide opportunities for scientists and researchers to present to the public.
- Build digital literacy in Australian communities.
- Expand existing STEM networks and partnership opportunities.
Funding allocations will be decided on merit and the applicant’s ability to meet the selection criteria.
Funding Amount
Applicants that meet the selection criteria can apply for $500 to $4,000 to support the delivery of 2024 National Science Week activities. Applications close on Friday 10 May.
