We simply couldn’t wait. Though National Science Week doesn’t officially begin until Saturday, there are plenty of events on already in Tasmania.

In the north of the state, Wednesday morning you can visit the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QVMAG) for the Science of Colour Playgroup, a really great event for families. Bookings are essential.

Down South, tonight we have an interesting presentation by Dr Nenagh Kemp about how texting is affecting literacy.

Thursday evening, world renown theoretical physicist and writer, Professor Lawrence Krauss, presents A Universe from Nothing. He aims to answer the question, “Why is there something rather than nothing?” reviewing the remarkable developments in cosmology and particle physics over the past 20 years that have revolutionised our picture of the origin of the universe, and of its future. Then on Friday night, join Professor Krauss and Professor John Dickey for Science in the Pub. They’ll be discussing such light topics as “Where do we come from?” and it should be a fantastic chat.
